Vehicle speed sensor — checking, removal and installation (Nissan Bluebird T12)

1. The speed sensor rotates with the speedometer drive, gives impulses to the ECCS unit, depending on the speed of the car. It is located in the dashboard.

2. To check the sensor, first place the ECCS unit at the bottom of the passenger seat, unscrew the bolts. Disconnect the 16-pin connector.

3. Connect the multimeter to the resistance measurement mode (or battery lamp) between the blue-green wire (clamp 29) on the connector harness and ground.

4. Raise the front of the car and quickly spin one of the wheels. The resistance between the clamp and the ground should decrease depending on the speed of the wheel.

5. If the speed sensor does not work, remove the instrument panel and check the circuit between the sensor and the ECCS connector of the unit.

6. If the wiring is intact, the sensor may be faulty and should be replaced.
