- Place the vehicle on a level horizontal surface and position the front wheels parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
- Remove the driver's airbag module from the steering wheel.
Caution: Before working on SRS components (with an airbag) turn off the ignition, disconnect both cables from the battery and wait at least 3 minutes.
- Start the engine and set the speed to 1000+100 rpm.
Caution: After checking the set idle speed, set the idle speed to normal.

- Attach the spring tensioner to the steering wheel rim. Measure the turning force required to turn the steering wheel from a straight-ahead position to the left and right (one and a half turns). Also make sure that there are no significant variations in the amount of steering effort required.
Nominal value: the torque required to turn the steering wheel is no more than 7.45 Nm.
If the torque required to turn the steering wheel differs from the value specified above, check the power steering fluid outlet pressure.
