Caution: Do not hold the steering wheel near any of the stops (extreme left and extreme right position of the wheel) longer than ten seconds, otherwise the power steering pump may be damaged.
- Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
- Let the engine run until it reaches normal operating temperature. With the engine idling, turn the steering wheel left and right several times to release all air from the steering system.
- Turn off the engine.
- To check the fluid level, simply assess the level by looking through the walls of the transparent tank. The fluid level should be between the MAX and MIN marks. When checking the fluid level, use the correct temperature range on the reservoir, as the level in the HOT range (the liquid is hot) differs from the level in the COLD range (the liquid is cold).
♦ HOT range: liquid has a temperature from 50°C to 80°C.
♦ COLD range: the liquid has a temperature from 0°C to 30°C.
♦ Add liquid in small portions until its level reaches the desired height.
A - normal liquid level when hot; B - normal level in cold state.
Caution: Do not overfill the pump. If too much liquid is added, remove excess liquid with a clean syringe or suction pump.
- Check power steering hoses and fittings for leaks or wear.
- Do not allow the power steering fluid level in the reservoir to fall below the lower mark.
- The capacity of the power steering system is 1.0 L.
- Check the condition and tension of the drive belt.
