Checking the steering wheel and steering column (Nissan Almera N15)

If the steering wheel does not turn smoothly, check the steering column as described below and replace any damaged parts.

Check the steering column bearings. They should rotate smoothly and be undamaged. Lubricate the bearings with the recommended grease or replace the steering column assembly if necessary.

Check the steering shaft cover for deformation and damage. Replace it if necessary.

After a light collision, check the control dimension L.

• Steering column length - 533.0-535.0 mm

If the length is not within the specified limits, replace the steering column assembly.

After installing the steering column, check the operation of the tilt mechanism.
