1. Make sure the battery is fully charged and all lubricants, coolant and fuel are filled.
2. If the fuel system has been dismantled, it is necessary to additionally rotate the engine crankshaft with the starter to bleed the system.
3. Once the engine starts, allow it to idle until normal operating temperature is reached.
4. When the engine is warm, check for water or oil leaks. Also check the exhaust pipe and manifold connections.
5. When normal operating temperature is reached, adjust the idle speed and check the ignition timing.

6. Stop the engine, wait a few minutes and check for coolant or oil leaks.
7. Check the engine operation on the highway. Do not accelerate the engine too much - if new liners or pistons are installed, the engine is considered new and should be run in at a reduced speed for the first 800 km.
8. After 1000 km the cylinder head bolts should be re-tightened on a cold engine. To do this, remove the valve cover, then using the bolt tightening sequence, loosen each bolt by half a turn and re-tighten to maximum torque.
