The cars are equipped with airbags. Before working near impact sensors, the steering column, or the instrument panel, always disconnect the negative battery cable first, then the positive cable, and wait an additional 3 minutes to prevent unexpected airbag deployment, which could cause injury.
Steering wheel mounting elements

Removal
- Set the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
- Disconnect the negative and then the positive cable from the battery.
- Pry and remove the two plastic caps covering the driver airbag module mounting bolts on the sides of the steering wheel.
Airbag module mounting elements

- Using a TORX head, unscrew the airbag module mounting bolts (arrow) located on the left and right.

- Lift the airbag module and disconnect the electrical connector. To do this, insert a thin screwdriver, the end of which is wrapped with adhesive tape, into the recess and lift the latch.

- Set the airbag aside.
Caution: When working on the airbag module, always hold the trim panel so that it is not pointing towards you. Never place the air bag module on a workbench or other surface with its trim panel facing down. Always place the airbag module in a safe location with the trim panel facing up.
- Disconnect the steering column switch plug and loosen the steering wheel lock nut.
- To remove the steering wheel, use the puller (arrow).

Caution: To remove the steering wheel, do not hit the steering shaft with a hammer or overtighten the puller on the steering wheel.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

- Tighten the steering wheel mounting nut (arrow) to a torque of 30-39 N·m.

- To secure the airbag module, install new special bolts (TORX) and tighten them to a torque of 4.9-13.7 N·m.
Caution: The airbag wires must not be pinched between the airbag coil wire and the steering wheel. In addition, the airbag coil wire must be positioned correctly before installing the steering wheel.
- To connect the airbag electrical connector, press the locking tab (arrow).
