Checking the parking brake

With the parking brake system disengaged, smoothly pull the parking brake lever up to the stop. If the number of clicks does not correspond to the value given below, contact a service station from 7 to 8 clicks. The required parking brake engagement force is 190 kN (20 kgf).
Checking the service brake pedal
(Read more on the website: «NissanBook.ru»)

With the engine running, measure the distance between the upper surface of the service brake pedal and the accelerator pedal travel limiter (A). It should be 65 mm or more. If this distance is not within the standard, contact a service station.
(B) Pedal pressure force 490 N (50 kgf).
Self-adjusting brake mechanisms
Disc brakes are adjusted automatically each time the brake pedal is pressed.
Brake pad wear signal (if any)
The brake pads of your car's disc brakes have an audible wear signal. If the brake pad needs to be replaced, it will make a high-pitched grinding sound when the car is moving. This sound will be heard even when the brake pedal is not pressed. If you hear the wear signal sound, immediately check the condition of the brake pads.
Under certain driving conditions or in certain climates, occasional noises may be heard when braking. These low to moderate intensity braking noises are not a sign of a malfunction and do not affect the operation or performance of the brake system.
Brake booster
Check the operation of the brake booster as follows:
1. With the engine not running, press the brake pedal several times to ensure that its travel remains constant.
2. Start the engine with the brake pedal depressed. The pedal should drop slightly.
3. With the brake pedal depressed, stop the engine. Keep the pedal depressed for about 30 seconds. The pedal position should not change.
4. After releasing the pedal, start the engine for 1 minute and then stop it.
- Press the brake pedal several times. The brake pedal travel will gradually decrease with each press due to the decrease in vacuum in the booster.
If the brake system does not work properly, contact a service center to have the system checked.
