2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Cars with manual transmission (MT):
Move the gearshift lever to neutral (N), fully depress the clutch pedal and start the engine.
Cars with automatic transmission (AT) or continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Press the brake pedal and move the selector lever to position P or N (preferable is pos. R).
Note: The starter is locked out if the gear selector lever is not in position P or N.
Models with system "Intelligent Key".
Slowly press the ignition switch (PUSH ON) and depress the brake pedal. If the system indicator lamp "Intelligent Key" on the dashboard lights up green, this means that the ignition switch is unlocked. In order for the ignition switch to work, you must have the key with you "Intelligent Key".
If the system lock indicator light "Intelligent Key" if the red light is on and the sound signal is turned on, you need to make sure that:
- the gear lever is in position N (cars with manual transmission);
- the automatic transmission selector lever is in position P (models with automatic transmission or CVT);
- the ignition key returned to the LOCK position.
4. Turn the ignition key to the START position without pressing the accelerator pedal.
5. After the engine starts, immediately release the ignition key. If the engine starts and stalls, repeat the above procedures.
6. After starting, let the engine idle for at least 30 seconds. The initial section of the journey should be done at moderate speed, especially in cold weather.
NISSAN Security System (NATS)
This system will not allow the engine to start without a registered NATS key. If the engine does not start with a registered NATS key, the cause may be:

- Using a different NATS key.
- Automatic toll collection device, automated payment machine or other devices emitting similar signals.
Try to start the engine by barely blowing:
1. Remove objects that may interfere with the NATS key.
2. Leave the ignition key in the ON position for approximately 5 seconds.
3. Then turn the ignition key to the OFF or LOCK position and wait about 5 seconds.
4. Start the engine.
5. Repeat the above steps until the interference is eliminated.
