Vehicle identification number (VIN)
This number, extremely important in its meaning, is engraved on a metal plate (shield), attached to the instrument panel under the windshield on the driver's side of the vehicle. VIN is also entered in the vehicle registration certificate and registration certificate. The number code encodes information about the date and place of production of the car, the year of manufacture of the model and the type of body.
The most important components of a VIN are the engine series and model year codes.
The engine code is represented by the letter standing in the fourth position from the left of the number:
- H=VG30DE SOHC V6 (1993 ÷ 1994)
- E = VE30DE DOHC V6 (1993 ÷ 1994)
- C=VQ30DE DOHC V6 (since 1995)
The year of manufacture is encrypted in the letter occupying the tenth position of the VIN:
- P = 1993
- R = 1994
- S = 1995
- T = 1996
Information plate in the engine compartment of the car
A metal nameplate with information on the engine, transmission, paintwork and vehicle body type is riveted to the bulkhead of the vehicle's engine compartment. Usually the nameplate is attached to the left side of the bulkhead, but it is also possible to place it in the center.
Chassis ID
The chassis identification number is stamped directly on the bulkhead of the engine compartment, in its central part. The number contains information about the purpose of the model, the modifications made and the transmission.
Certification label
The certification label is affixed to the end of the driver's door of the car and contains such information about the vehicle as the name of the manufacturer, month and year of manufacture, nominal gross weight (GVWR), the maximum permitted axle load, and the text of the certification agreement.
