In addition, the chassis number (2) is stamped closer to the middle of the bulkhead. The chassis number for some models may look like this:
SJN B A A P10 U O XXXXX.
The individual letters have the following meaning:
The first three letters indicate that we are talking about a Nissan passenger car.
The next "B" stands for a sedan. If there is an "F" in this place, it is a coupe (hatchback). Station wagon models have a "W" in this place.
The next letter indicates the engine installed. "A" is used to indicate a 1.6-liter engine, "C" to indicate a 2-liter engine.
The designation "P10" is the factory series designation for this version.
The next letter is always "U" because it refers to cars for European countries. The next "O" has no special meaning. This letter is followed by the serial number of the car.
The type plate contains the most important information about the permissible weight of the vehicle, i.e. the permissible total weight, the permissible weight with a trailer (for example, with a caravan), permissible load on the front and rear axles, as well as instructions on the color of the car paint and interior upholstery.
The engine number is stamped into the cylinder block at the location shown in the illustration below on the flywheel side and begins with the engine designation.
