All vehicles with this engine are fitted as standard with a 5-speed gearbox. The named power refers to vehicles with a catalytic converter. If the catalyst is not installed, the engine has a power of 95 hp. (70 kW) at a speed of 6000 rpm.
5-door hatchback models with this engine are only available in certain countries. They have the same designation.

2.0 liters, 1998 cm3, 115 hp/85 kW at 6000 rpm, sedan, engine «SR20D». Depending on the country of destination, the vehicle is marked «LX», «SLX» or «SGX». Hatchback models with the same designation are sold in certain countries. The car is equipped with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic. All models are equipped with a catalytic converter.
2.0 liters, 1998 cm3 150 hp/110 kW sedan or hatchback engine «SR20DE». For this motor, only the version «GT» with 5 speed gearbox. These vehicles are fitted as standard with a lambda-controlled catalytic converter.
All engines have four cylinders with two overhead camshafts and 16 valves, which are driven by one or two drive chains (depending on engine) from the crankshaft.
Each cylinder has 4 26°valves with or without hydraulic lash adjusters. The cylinder block of 2-liter engines is made of light alloys.
Both engines use pistons of different sizes and strokes, which means that the volume of an individual cylinder is not achieved by boring the block. The engine is installed in the front of the vehicle across the direction of travel.
The chassis consists of a body of a supporting structure and an independent suspension of the front and rear wheels. The front wheel suspension of the sedan and coupe is a multi-link suspension with a lower transverse arm, an upper diagonal arm with a joint, as well as coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers. A stabilizer bar is installed as standard. The rear wheel suspension of the sedan and coupe consists of suspension struts with double lower arms and a trailing arm. A stabilizer bar is standard on all models. In station wagon models (which are not covered in this publication) suspension struts with triangular wishbones and a trailing arm rear suspension with coil springs and a transverse bar are used for the suspension of the front wheels.
As already mentioned, a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic is installed.
Models with 1.6L engine have front disc and rear drum brakes, models with 2.0L engine have disc brakes on front and rear wheels. The brake system is divided into two circuits, front and rear, and is equipped with a brake force regulator. ABS can be installed on certain 2 liter models. The hand brake acts on the rear wheels.
The vehicle has rack and pinion steering, which is equipped as standard with hydraulic booster.
