1. The condition of the windshield wiper assemblies should be checked regularly in accordance with the vehicle's routine maintenance schedule (see Section Nissan Maxima Maintenance Schedule). Brushes are inspected for mechanical damage, signs of loosening of components and wear of rubber working elements.
2. Over time, a road film accumulates on the working surfaces of the brushes, which leads to a noticeable decrease in the efficiency of the windshield wipers. Clean the brushes regularly with a medium strength cleaning solution.
3. During the operation of the wipers, a gradual spontaneous release of fasteners may occur, the reliability of fit and tightening of which should also be checked regularly.
4. If cracks or signs of wear of rubber working elements are detected, they are replaced.
5. Move the wiper arm away from the glass.
6. Press the retaining tab and remove the brush from the hook at the end of the wiper arm.
7. If necessary, using needle-nose pliers, squeeze the metal locking tabs at the end of the brush assembly and release the rubber working element from the frame.
8. Put the replacement element in place of the removed one, making sure that it snaps into place in the frame.
9. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order to the removal of components.
