Note: Before you start, please read the Note at the beginning Chapters 18 regarding the dangers of asbestos dust.
1. Remove the brake drum.
2. Remove the brake shoes.
3. Minimize fluid loss by removing the master cylinder reservoir cap and using a flexible hose to drain the brake fluid from the reservoir.
4. Clean the areas around the mounting bolts of the wheel cylinder and the hydraulic pipe coupling, then loosen the coupling nut and disconnect the hydraulic pipe.

5. Unscrew the bolt from the working brake cylinder and disconnect it from the mounting point.
6. Refitting is the reverse of removal. Tighten the wheel cylinder mounting bolts to the installation torques specified in the Specifications. When the brake is reassembled, bleed the system as described above, flush out any spilled fluid, then check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.
