2. Loosen the handbrake adjuster lock nut (where is it used) and loosen the regulator as much as possible.
3. Disconnect the handbrake indicator light switch wiring.
4. Unscrew the handbrake lever assembly from the floor (photo).

5. If there is enough slack, it may be possible to disconnect the forward end of the cable from the control arm assembly from inside the vehicle. If this is not possible, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on axle stands. Pull the cable bushing back from the control arm assembly dust cap and disconnect the cable.
6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. But first check that the lever latch, ratchet mechanism, cable end and compensator are lubricated. Adjust the cable as described in Chapter 2 from this Section, check the switch installation.
