Warning! The car models covered in this manual are equipped with an additional security system (SRS). Before doing any work near the airbag unit, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS to avoid injury if it is accidentally deployed (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment). SRS circuit wiring is easily identified by the yellow color of the insulation.
Note. To avoid damage to the PCM by electrostatic discharge, avoid touching the module's terminals. If possible, perform self-grounding.
Each time the battery is disconnected, the operating parameters from the PCM memory are canceled, which can lead to a violation of the stability of the engine speed in the first few minutes after the first start.
1. The PCM control module is placed in the vehicle center console assembly, to the right of the gas pedal.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the equipment!
3. Remove the side trim panels in front of the center console.
4. Disconnect electrical wiring from PCM.
5. Turn out bolts of fastening of a basic arm of the control module.
6. Carefully remove the module assembly from under the instrument panel.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
