Warning! The models of vehicles covered in this manual are equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS). Before performing any work near the air bag unit, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS to avoid injury from accidental deployment (see Chapter On-board electrical equipment). The SRS circuit wiring is easily identified by the yellow color of the insulation.
Note: To avoid damage to the PCM from electrostatic discharge, avoid touching the module contact terminals. Self-ground if possible.
Each time the battery is disconnected, the operating parameters are cleared from the PCM memory, which can lead to instability of engine speed in the first few minutes after the first start.
1. The PCM control module is located in the vehicle's center console assembly, to the right of the gas pedal.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the system before disconnecting the battery!
3. Remove the side trim panels in front of the center console.

4. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the PCM.

5. Remove the control module support bracket mounting bolts.
6. Carefully remove the module assembly from under the instrument panel.
7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
