Examination
Oil leak
Check for oil leaks from and around the transfer case (oil seal, crankcase drain plug, etc.)
Oil level
1. Unscrew the plug (1) from the filler hole and remove the gasket. Check the oil level (A) through the hole under the filler plug.

2. Install a new gasket on the filler plug. Screw the plug into the transfer case and tighten to the specified torque.
- Do not reuse the gasket.
Drain
1. Drive the vehicle and warm up the transfer case housing to normal operating temperature.
2. Stop the engine, unscrew the plug (1) from the drain hole, remove the gasket and drain the oil from the transfer case.
- Do not remove the plug (2) from the hole to check the contact patch.
3. Place a new gasket on the drain plug.
- Screw the plug into the transfer case and tighten to the specified torque. Do not reuse the gasket.

Refueling
1. Unscrew the plug (1) from the filler hole and remove the gasket. Fill the oil to the specified level at the hole (A) under the plug.
Oil grade and viscosity: See chapter.

Technical service.
Oil filling capacity: See below section "Technical data and specifications".
Pour oil slowly (approx. 3 minutes).
2. Wait 3 minutes and check the oil level again.
3. Install a new gasket on the filler plug. Screw the plug into the transfer case and tighten to the specified torque.
- Do not reuse the gasket.
