CAREFULLY! Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is cold. Burns can be caused by the ejection of hot liquid.
1. Using caution, back the machine off the road and apply the parking brake. Place the manual transmission lever in neutral (with an automatic transmission, set the selector lever to position "R").
Don't turn off the engine.
2. Turn off the air conditioner. Open all windows. Set the temperature control knob of the heater or air conditioner to maximum heat ("NOT"), and the fan knob to maximum speed ("high speed").
3. Open engine hood and visually inspect fan rotation and drive belts for damage or looseness. Check radiator and radiator hoses for fluid leaks.
CAREFULLY! Be careful to keep your hands, hair, and clothing away from the fan, belts, and other moving parts.
If there is a coolant leak, a loose or damaged fan belt, or if the fan is malfunctioning, stop the engine.
4. Let the engine cool down and check the coolant level in the reservoir with the engine running. If necessary, add fluid to the reservoir. After that, you should go to the nearest Nissan dealer to inspect and repair the machine.
