2. Remove the tip and its locknut from the tie rod (see Section Removal and installation of tips of steering draughts).
3. Squeezing the locking tabs with pliers, remove the clamps securing the outer ends of the protective covers of the rack and pinion housing. Wire bandages for fastening the outer ends of the covers should be cut with side cutters.
4. Before installing a new boot, wrap the cut end of the steering rod with adhesive tape so as not to accidentally damage the small jaws of the boot when landing it on the rod.
5. Put on a new cover on the rod and pull it on the crater of the steering mechanism, making sure that the sealing lips are properly seated in the receiving groove. Secure the cover by applying a wire bandage with two hoses.
6. Remove the adhesive tape and screw the tie rod end into place (see Section Removal and installation of tips of steering draughts).
7. Replace the wheel. Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel nuts to the required torque (see Specifications to Chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
