Removing
1. The design of the steering pump is shown in the illustration.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
3. Loosen the tensioner and slip the drive belt off the pulley.
4. Using a large syringe, pump out as much hydraulic fluid as possible from the steering pump reservoir. Place a drain pan under the vehicle to collect spilled liquid.
5. Loosen the right front wheel nuts, jack up the car and place it on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
6. Unscrew the hollow bolt of the union connection and separate the pressure line from the pump. Remove the sealing washers installed on both sides of the nipple connector (washers must be replaced). Wrap the nipple with plastic wrap to minimize hydraulic fluid loss.
7. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hydraulic return hose from the steering pump.
8. Release the right tie rod end from the steering knuckle lever (see Section Removal and installation of tips of steering draughts). Rotate the linkage back, freeing up sufficient working space.
9. Turn out fixing bolts and remove assembly of the steering pump.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure all fasteners (including hollow socket bolt) was tightened to the required torque. Don't forget to replace the sealing washers on the pressure line nipple connector. Adjust drive belt tension (see chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
2. Connect the tie rod to the steering knuckle arm (see Section Removal and installation of tips of steering draughts).
3. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel nuts to the required torque (see chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
4. Top up the steering pump reservoir with the required amount of hydraulic fluid of the required grade (see chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance) And "pump" steering system (see Section Removing air from the hydraulic path of the power steering system).
