Adjusting the switching mechanism (Nissan Primera P10)

Adjusting the shift cable is essential for the perfect operation of the gearbox. When shifting the lever in all positions, good fixation should be felt. Otherwise, or if the cable has been removed, the adjustment is carried out as follows:

1. Set the gear selector lever to position "P".

2. Connect the end of the shift cable to the lever and tighten the cable lock nut.

3. Connect the shift cable to the lever shown in the illustration and screw the cable with the mount to the box.

4. Pull the shift cable (see illustration) to the right. This should be done with a dynamometer. To do this, attach the dynamometer to the lever and pull it to the right. The value should be 0.7 kg.

5. Move the shift cable 1.0 mm to the left and tighten the lock nut.

6. Move the gear selector lever from position "P" through all gears to position "1" to check the shift mechanism. Check that the gearbox is locked in position "P" (park). Otherwise, make the required adjustment as described.



7. After each adjustment, start the engine again and shift gears again.

8. Finally, tighten both nuts at the end of the cable.
