1. Remove the camshaft.
2. To remove pushers of valves in places where value of a valve backlash differs from norm.
3. Micrometer (A) measure the thickness of the central part of the removed pushers.
4. Using the equations below, calculate the tappet thickness required for replacement.
The thickness of the valve lifter is calculated by the formula: t=t1 + (C1 - C2), Where
- t = thickness of valve lifter required for replacement;
- t1 = thickness of removed valve lifter;
- C1 = measured valve clearance;
- C2 = nominal valve clearance.
- Inlet: 0.30 mm.
- Exhaust: 0.33 mm.
Thickness of the new valve lifter (IN) determined by stamped side (inside the cylinder). For example, the label «300» corresponds to a thickness of 3.00 mm.
Note. Valve lifters have a thickness range of 26 sizes from 3.00 to 3.50 mm in 0.02 mm increments (factory made).
5. Install the selected valve lifter.
6. Install the camshaft.
7. Install the drive chain with the appropriate parts.
8. Manually turn the crankshaft pulley a few turns.
9. Make sure that the valve clearances on a cold engine are within limits.
10. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
11. Warm up the engine and make sure there is no extraneous noise or vibration.
