1. The fuel recommended by Nissan for the vehicles described in this manual is given in Specifications this Section.
2. RON and MON are different standards and; RON - octane number (also referred to as RM), while MON is the motor octane number (also referred to as MM).
3. Before describing the individual requirements, it will be useful to explain the various terms used for the types of gasoline:
4. Leaded gasoline: In addition to the natural content, a quantity of lead is added during production to increase the octane number. Before the 1970s, this amount was 0.640 g (maximum) / liter. Before 1985 (BS 4040:1985) its content was gradually reduced to 0.150 g (maximum)/liter, thus lowering the octane number.
5. Unleaded petrol: only natural lead content, no more than 0.013 g/liter (BS 7070:1985).
6. Free Gasoline: does not contain any additives at all.
7. The use of unleaded petrol is believed to cause accelerated wear of conventional valve seats (especially graduation) due to a reduction in the lubricating effect. All models described in this manual are equipped with reinforced valve seats and can therefore permanently use unleaded petrol.
Note: The only vehicles that should always use unleaded gasoline are those with catalytic converters; the vehicles covered by this manual are not equipped with catalytic converters.
