Removal and installation
Removal
1. Drain the engine coolant. See above.
Caution: Perform this operation when the engine is cold.
2. Remove the following components:
- drive belt; see chapter "Mechanical part of the engine";
- automatic drive belt tensioner; see chapter "Mechanical part of the engine";
- generator; see chapter "Electrical equipment".
3. Remove the water pump.
- Coolant will flow out of the cylinder block, so place a container underneath.
Attention:
- Do not allow water pump blades to come into contact with other components.
- The water pump cannot be disassembled and must be replaced as an assembly.
4. Remove the water pump housing as follows:
a. Remove the cover from the exhaust manifold. See chapter "Mechanical part of the engine".
b. Remove the oil dipstick and dipstick guide. See Chapter "Mechanical part of the engine".
Caution: To prevent foreign particles from entering the oil pan, plug the dipstick guide hole.
c. Loosen the water pipe mounting bolts.
d. Remove the water pump housing.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold and three-way catalytic converter assembly. See Chapter "Mechanical part of the engine".
6. Remove the water tube.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
See the original on the resource [nissanbook.ru]
- When inserting the end of the water pipe into the cylinder block, apply neutral detergent to the O-ring. Then insert it immediately.
Check after removal
- Perform a visual inspection to ensure that there is no significant contamination or rust on the water pump housing and blades.
- make sure that there is no play in the blade shaft and that it rotates freely by hand.
- Replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
Post-installation check

- Check for coolant leaks by applying pressure using an adapter (suitable special tool) and the pump (suitable special tool). See above.
- Start the engine and warm it up. Conduct a visual inspection to ensure there are no coolant leaks.
