Checking the radiator and cap (Nissan Primera P10)

If there is a pump for pressurizing the radiator, it can be installed on the radiator and create a pressure of 1.6 bar. The pressure in the system should not drop. If the pressure drops, there is a leak. In this case, park the car on a dry place to determine where the coolant is leaking.

The same pump can be used to check the valve opening pressure in the cap. Install the pump on the cap and operate it. At a pressure of 0.9 bar, the pressure should drop immediately, i.e. the valve in the cap opens. If this does not happen, the cap must be replaced. A valve that does not open quickly leads to engine overheating. If the valve is stuck open, pressure cannot be created in the system.
