Removing
When removing and installing, follow illustration above. On models with a carbureted engine, only one fan is installed, which is fixed in the same way.
1. Drain the coolant as described in Chapter Ongoing care and maintenance.
2. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the radiator and engine after loosening the hose clamps.
3. On an automatic transmission vehicle, disconnect the oil cooler inlet and outlet hoses. Substitute a vessel to collect the leaking oil.
4. Disconnect the battery.
5. Disconnect the electrical cables at the fan motor or motors and the thermal switch.
6. Loosen the fastening nuts on the upper side, remove the corners and take out the radiator, making sure that the radiator honeycombs do not bump into any parts of the engine or body. The rubber feet on the underside of the fan shroud can be replaced if they are in poor condition.
7. If required, remove the installed casing or individual shields from the radiator.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. If you suspect a malfunction of the water hoses, they should be replaced. Don't forget to connect the plugs of the fan motors and the thermal switch. Fill in cooling liquid as it is described in the Head Ongoing care and maintenance. After warming up the engine, check the tightness of all connections. Also check that the fan motors turn on and off.
