Warning! The car models covered in this manual are equipped with an additional security system (SRS). Before doing any work near the airbag unit, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS to avoid injury if it is accidentally deployed (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment). SRS circuit wiring is easily identified by the yellow color of the insulation.
If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
Latch
1. Trace around the latch assembly with a marker or scriber to ensure it is properly seated during assembly. Unhook the spring and use a screwdriver to release the end of the lock release cable from the latch assembly.
2. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Note. Adjust the position of the latch so that the hood is securely locked with the lock in the closed position - the rubber pads of the supports should be slightly flattened.
Drive cable
1. Disconnect the hood release cable from the latch assembly.
2. In the car, unscrew the three fixing screws and separate the hood lock release lever from the instrument panel. Disconnect the cable from the lever.
3. Pull the cable assembly into the passenger compartment by gently pushing it through the grommet in the bulkhead.
4. Pass the end of the new cable through the bushing in the bulkhead and pull the assembly into the engine compartment by the wire through the bulkhead into the engine compartment, pulling its end up to the hood lock latch.
5. Perform further assembly in the reverse order of dismantling.
