Removing
1. Loosen the drive shaft nut.
The brake caliper does not need to be removed.
Do not twist or tighten the brake hose when moving parts.
2. Remove the bolts securing the telescopic strut to the steering knuckle.
3. Remove the brake hose clamp.
4. Lightly hammer the drive shaft out of the hub. Wrap the standard covers with a rag so as not to damage them when removing the shaft.
5. Disconnect the right power shaft from a transmission.
6. Disconnect the left drive shaft from the gearbox.
For manual transmission:
Disconnect the shaft using the lever (e.g. screwdrivers).
For automatic transmission:
Insert a screwdriver into the hole for the right shaft and knock out the left shaft.
Be careful not to damage the pinion shaft and side gear.
Installation
From the gearbox side:
1. Press a new oil seal into the gearbox (see chapter «Manual Transmission» or «Automatic transmission»).
2. Install tool KV38106800 on the inner lip of the gland.
3. Insert the drive shaft into the gearbox. Make sure the splines are properly aligned and then pull out the tool.
4. Press the shaft so that the circlip at the end of the shaft fits into the groove of the side gear,
5. After installing the shaft, try to pull it out of the hinge housing. If the shaft feeds, the circlip has not locked into the side gear.
Wheel side:
Insert the drive shaft into the hub and tighten the nut (see section «Hub and steering knuckle»).
