Removal and installation
1. Loosen the drive shaft nut.
2. Disconnect steering draft from a rotary fist.
3. Turn away bolts of fastening of a telescopic rack to a rotary fist.
4. Lightly tap the drive shaft out of the hub with a hammer. Wrap the protective covers of the drive shaft with rags so as not to damage them when disconnecting the shaft.
5. Press the ball joint pin out of the steering knuckle using the NT72520000 puller.
6. Turn away fixing nuts and bolts.
7. When installing the lever, the final tightening of the fasteners should be done when the car is on the ground and fully equipped, but not loaded.
8. After installing the lower arm, check the alignment of the front wheels (see section «Checking suspension parts on a car», «Front wheel alignment»).
Examination
The lower arm must not be damaged, cracked or deformed. If present, replace the lever. Rubber bushings must not be worn, damaged or deformed. If their condition is unsatisfactory, replace the lower arm.
The ball joint must not have excessive play. The lower arm must be replaced in the following cases:
- Ball pin worn out.
- The hinge swings with difficulty.
- Excessive axial clearance in the hinge.
- Rocking resistance force (A) - 8.24-57.37 N
- Torque of resistance to rotation (IN) - 0.49-3.43 Nm
- Vertical free play (WITH) - 0 mm
The rocking resistance force is measured at the level of the cotter pin hole in the ball stud. Rotate the ball stud in the joint housing at least 10 times before measuring to ensure that it is in the correct position.
The protective cover of the hinge must be replaced in case of any damage. Replace the mounting collar at the same time as the cover.
