Removal and installation
Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the telescopic pole (on the steering knuckle and under the hood).
Do not loosen the shock absorber rod nut on the vehicle.
Disassembly
1. Clamp the strut in a vise using ST35652000, then loosen the damper rod nut.
Do not completely remove the stem nut.
2. Compress the spring with the special tools until the rubber element of the upper strut support can not be rotated by hand.
3. Remove the damper rod nut.
Examination
shock absorber. Check the smoothness of the stroke under full compression and extension. Check for oil leaks from the stem seal and welds. The rod must not have deformations, cracks or other damage. Replace shock absorber if necessary.
Top support of the telescopic pole. There should be no cracks or other signs of destruction on the rubber elements. The rubber must not flake off the metal base.
Thrust bearing. When rotating the bearing, there should be no extraneous noise and excessive axial play. Replace bearing if necessary. Screw spring. Check the spring for deformation, cracks or other damage. Replace spring if necessary.
Assembly
When mounted on a pole, the spring must be positioned as shown in the illustration.
When installing the top spring cup, make sure it is properly positioned (see fig.).
