Warning! The air conditioning system is under constant high pressure. Never disconnect refrigeration lines or remove any system components without first discharging the system. Discharging the air conditioning system must be done by an experienced technician in a car service workshop. Always wear safety glasses when disconnecting refrigeration lines!
When replacing air conditioning system components, a certain amount of replacement refrigeration oil will be required to fill the volume of the new unit. Use only oil suitable for use in R-134a systems (read the container label carefully).
Removal
1. The receiver-dryer acts as a refrigerant accumulator and also serves to remove moisture from the system. When replacing large components of the air conditioning system (compressor, condenser, evaporator), and also if air gets into the refrigeration tract, the accumulator/dryer assembly must be replaced.
2. Discharge the air conditioning system in a specialized workshop. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
If your car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
3. Disconnect the wiring from the compressor clutch cycle switch at the top of the receiver dryer assembly.
Note: When replacing the receiver drier, transfer the old sensor switch to the new unit.
4. Disconnect the refrigeration lines from the receiver, immediately plug the open ends of the tubes and fittings to prevent dirt from entering the system.
5. Loosen the clamp bolt and release the receiver-dryer assembly from the mounting clamp (support bracket).
Installation
1. When replacing the receiver drier assembly, approximately 2 ounces (60 ml) of refrigeration oil will be required and should be added to the replacement unit.

2. Install the assembly in its original location and lightly tighten the clamping bolt, leaving the assembly with some freedom necessary for connecting the hydraulic lines.
3. Connect the refrigeration inlet and outlet lines to the assembly (before joining the fittings, lubricate the new sealing rings with clean refrigeration oil). After finishing connecting the lines, tighten the clamp bolt securely.
4. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
5. Charge the system and check it for leaks in a specialized workshop.
