It is possible to remove such units as the intake and exhaust manifolds, the oil pan, the oil pump, the coolant pump, the starter, the generator, the ignition distributor, the valve timing mechanism parts, the fuel system units, and the cylinder head. In extreme cases, when the necessary equipment is not available, without removing the engine, it is possible to replace the piston rings, pistons, connecting rods, and connecting rod bearings. However, it is highly inadvisable to perform these works without dismantling and completely disassembling the engine, since it requires cleaning the associated parts, as well as carrying out preparatory work for assembly.
