Engine Electrical Systems — General Information (Nissan Patrol Y60)

The engine electrical equipment includes all components of the ignition, starting and charging systems. Since these components are functionally related to those that directly ensure the operation of the engine, they are considered separately from the components of the on-board electrical equipment, such as lighting devices, controls, windshield wipers/washers, etc.

Attention! When working with electrical equipment, certain safety precautions should always be observed:

• It is not permissible to leave the ignition on for a long time with the engine off.
• Under no circumstances should you disconnect the wires from the battery while the engine is running.
• When connecting wires from an auxiliary power source during emergency engine starting, polarity must be strictly observed.
• The negative cable should always be disconnected from the battery first and connected last to avoid a short circuit if the tool accidentally touches the ground when loosening/tightening the positive terminal clamp.
