If a pressure gauge is available, the engine oil pressure can be checked if it is too low. This can be recognized, among other things, by the slow turning off of the oil pressure warning lamp on the instrument panel. Since the engine must be warm to check the oil pressure, be careful not to burn yourself on the hot oil or engine parts during operation. The values given below are based on an oil with a viscosity of SAE 20W-20 and a temperature of 80°C.
1. Warm up the engine and turn it off.
2. Disconnect the cable from the oil pressure sensor and unscrew the sensor.
3. Start the engine and let it run at various speeds. When the lubrication system is in good condition, the oil pressure should be as follows (see Specifications).
During the above check, the oil pan must be full.
