Checking engine oil pressure (Nissan Primera P10)

If you have a pressure gauge, you can check the engine oil pressure if it is too low. This can be recognized, among other things, by the slow switching off of the oil pressure warning light on the instrument panel. Since the engine must be warm to check the oil pressure, you should be careful when working to avoid burning yourself on hot oil or engine parts. The values below correspond to oil with a viscosity of SAE 20W-20 and a temperature of 80°C.

1. Warm up the engine and turn it off.

2. Disconnect the cable from the oil pressure sensor and unscrew the sensor.

3. Start the engine and let it run at different speeds. If the lubrication system is in good condition, the oil pressure should have the following values (see Specifications).

During the above check, the oil pan must be full.
