Attention.
- Before disconnecting the fuel line, the fuel pressure must be relieved to eliminate the hazard.
- The method of connecting hoses for checking fuel pressure should not be used for any other cases.
- Be careful not to scratch or contaminate the area around the connection during maintenance, as this may compromise the internal seals of the quick connectors.
- Do not check the fuel pressure when the electrical system is running (those. switched on lighting, heated rear window, air conditioning system, etc.). The fuel gauge may give false readings due to varying engine load and variable manifold vacuum.
Note. Prepare pans or containers under the detachable fuel line as fuel may spill. Fuel pressure cannot be completely relieved because C11 models do not have a return line in the fuel system.
1. Reset fuel pressure to zero.
2. Prepare the fuel pressure test hose (IN) and fuel line adapter (KV10118400) (D), and then connect the fuel gauge (A). Secure hose connections with clamps (WITH).
The white arrow indicates the direction to the quick connector
The black arrow indicates the direction to the fuel line (from the engine side).
Note.
- Use a leaky fuel hose to check fuel pressure (genuine NISSAN fuel hose without quick connector).
- To avoid unnecessary stretching of the hose, use a fuel hose of moderate length to check the fuel pressure.
- Do not use hoses that are cracked or damaged to check fuel pressure.
- Use a pressure gauge to check fuel pressure.
3. Disconnect the fuel hose without bending or twisting it.
4. Connect fuel hose to check fuel pressure (1) to the fuel line (from the engine side) collar (2), as it shown on the picture.
1. Hose for checking fuel pressure.
2. Collar.
3. Fuel line.
4. Ledge #1.
5. Ledge #2.
Note.
- Remove oil or dirt from the insertion part of the hose using a cloth soaked in gasoline.
- Apply the required amount of gasoline between the top of the fuel line (3) and ledge No. 1 (4).
- Insert the hose for checking the fuel pressure until it stops into the protrusion No. 1 of the fuel line.
- Use Genuine NISSAN Fuel Hose Clamp (part number: 16439 N4710 or 16439 40U00).
- Use a new clamp every time you reconnect the fuel hose
- Use a torque screwdriver to tighten the clamp. Tightening torque: 1-2 Nm.
- The clamp is installed on the hose at a distance of 1-2 mm from the edge.
- Make sure the clamp screw does not touch adjacent parts.
5. Connect the fuel line adapter to the quick connector.
A. Fuel pressure gauge.
B. Fuel pressure test hose.
6. After connecting the fuel hose for i fuel pressure, pull the hose with a force of approx. 98 N (10 kg), to make sure the connection is secure.
7. Turn on the ignition and check for fuel leaks.
8. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
9. Read the fuel pressure gauge.
Note.
- Do not check the fuel pressure with the system running, as the pressure gauge may give false readings.
- During the pressure test, check for fuel leaks at the connection every three minutes.
- Fuel pressure at idle should be approximately 350 kPa (3.5 kg/cm2).
10. If the test results are not satisfactory, go to the next step.
11. Check the following:
- Fuel hoses and lines for clogging.
- Fuel filter for clogging.
- Fuel pump.
- Fuel pressure regulator for clogging.
Repair or replace components as necessary. If all components are OK, replace with a new fuel pressure regulator.
