The air filter has a paper element that cannot be cleaned. To remove the filter element, unscrew the cap and remove the old element. Cover the opening to the carburetor with a clean rag and wipe off any dust that has collected in the filter housing. Insert the new element and reinstall the cap.
Air filters operate with automatic temperature control, which ensures that the intake air temperature is maintained within a specified range. When removing the air filter, do the following:
1. Loosen the air filter mounting bolts.
2. Unscrew the filter cover and remove the filter element.
3. Loosen the filter clamp bolt on the bottom side and remove the filter.
4. Disconnect the air hose and the hose between the carburetor and the air filter.
5. The filter is installed in the reverse order.
