The air filter has a paper element that cannot be cleaned. To remove the filter element, unscrew the cover and remove the old element. Cover the opening to the carburetor with a clean rag and wipe off the dust that has collected in the filter housing. Insert a new element and reinstall the cover.
The air filters operate with automatic temperature control, which ensures that the temperature of the intake air is maintained within a predetermined area. When removing the air filter, do the following:
1. Loosen the air filter mounting bolts.
2. Unscrew the filter cover and remove the filter element.
3. Loosen the filter clamp bolt on the underside and remove the filter.
4. Disconnect the air hose and the hose between the carburetor and the air filter.
5. The filter is installed in the reverse order.
