Carburetor adjustment (Nissan Primera P10)

Fast Idle Adjustment

Checking should be done with the carburetor installed, adjustments should be done with the carburetor removed.

1. Warm up the engine and set the fast idle lever to the second stage of the stepped cam as shown in the illustration below.



2. Start the engine and check the speed with a tachometer. The value should be within 2300±200 rpm.

3. If the value is not as required, remove the carburetor and adjust the fast idle speed.

4. Set the fast idle lever to the second stage of the stepped cam.

5. Using a drill, measure the gap between the edge of the first chamber throttle valve and the carburetor hole. If the value is outside the range of 0.63±0.07 mm, adjust the screw (1) (see illustration above).

6. Install the carburetor and check the speed as described above.

Adjusting the float

1. To adjust or check the float level, the carburetor must be removed. Before adjusting the float level, start the engine. Check the fuel level on the side of the carburetor through the inspection window. The fuel level should be on the control line.



2. Otherwise, perform the following work:

3. Remove the carburetor.

4. Remove the carburetor cover with the float located in it.

5. Turn the carburetor cover over so that the float is positioned as shown in the illustration below.



6. Using a drill, measure the dimension "H". It should be within 9.5-10.5 mm.

7. If the value does not correspond to the required one, bend the stop tab (4).

8. Now carefully lift the float to the point indicated by the arrow in the illustration above until it rests and measure the dimension "h" between the cover mating surface and the top edge of the float.

9. If the size is outside the range of 43.0-44.0 mm, carefully bend the float stop (2).

Throttle Damper

1. To check the operation of the throttle damper, start the engine at idle speed. The idle speed and CO content should meet the requirements.

2. Connect the tachometer according to the instructions.

3. Move the throttle rod by hand until the tip of the damper touches the stop lever. At this point, the speed should be 2500±200 rpm.



4. If necessary, loosen the damper lock nut and turn the adjusting screw until the number of turns corresponds to the required value. Retighten the lock nut (see illustration below).
