1. Set the rack to neutral position without fluid in the steering gear.
2. Screw in the adjusting screw, having first applied a locking agent to its thread.
3. Lightly tighten the lock nut.
4. Tighten the adjusting screw to a torque of 4.9-5.9 Nm.
5. Loosen the screw and tighten it again to a torque of 0.2 Nm.
6. Move the rack several times within the entire working stroke.
7. Measure the pinion torque when rotating ±180° from the neutral position. Stop the rack at the point with maximum torque.

8. Loosen the adjusting screw and tighten it again to a torque of 4.9 Nm.
9. Loosen the screw to an angle of 70 to 110°.
10. While holding the adjusting screw from turning, tighten the lock nut to the specified torque.
11. Check the rack shear force on the vehicle. To do this, install the steering gear, but do not connect the steering rods to the steering arms.
Connect all pipes and fill with working fluid.
Start the engine and bleed the system. Disconnect the lower steering shaft joint from the steering gear.
Warm up the fluid at idle speed to normal operating temperature (60-80°C).

Slowly move the steering rod ±11.5 mm from the neutral position at a rate of 3.5 mm/s. The shear resistance should be within the following limits:
- Average rack shear force - 152-240 N (15.5-24.5 kgf)
- Maximum spread - 98 N (10 kgf)

Check the shear force outside the specified range at a rack travel speed of 40 mm/s.
- Maximum rack shear force - 294 N (30 kgf)
- Maximum spread - 147 N (15 kgf)
If the shear force is not within the specified limits, repeat the adjustment from the beginning.
If the adjustment fails to set the required force, the steering gear must be replaced.
