1. The starter open circuit switch is located near the upper end of the clutch pedal.
2. Check the correct setting of the pedal height and pusher free play (see Section Clutch pedal adjustment).
3. Make sure that starting the engine is not possible with the clutch pedal released.
4. Make sure that the engine starts without fail with the clutch pedal depressed.
5. If the correct functioning of the sensor-switch is broken, you should check the correctness of its electrical conditions.
6. Using an ohmmeter, make sure there is continuity between the terminals of the contact connector of the assembly with the plunger of the sensor-switch pressed out.
7. When the plunger is released, the conductivity should disappear.
8. A faulty switch sensor must be replaced - loosen the lock nut on the sensor housing, then unscrew the assembly and disconnect the electrical wiring from it. Installation is in the reverse order.
9. Adjust the clutch pedal (see Section Clutch pedal adjustment)
10. Make sure that the engine can only be started when the clutch pedal is depressed.
