Removal
- Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on stands.
- Remove the wheel.
- Unscrew the mounting bolt at the bottom of the shock absorber.
- Loosen the mounting nuts (arrows) of the shock absorber support at the top of the shock absorber and remove the shock absorber from the vehicle.
Checking the shock absorber
- Check the smoothness of the piston rod movement during full compression and extension. The rod should move without jerking or jamming.
Caution: The rear shock absorber must have a greater extension force (A) than compression force (B).
- Check for oil leaks through the piston rod seal and welds (arrow). The piston rod should not be deformed or damaged.
- Replace the shock absorber eye bushings if necessary.
Installation
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Always use new nuts.
- The final tightening of the fastening parts at the bottom of the shock absorber with rubber bushings should be carried out on an unloaded vehicle with its wheels on the ground.
- Check the wheel alignment angles.
