Removing
Loosen the upper and lower suspension strut mounting nuts. Do not loosen the damper rod nut.
Disassembly
1. Clamp the shock absorber in a vise using tool ST35652000, then loosen the damper rod nut without removing it.
2. Compress the spring with tool HT71780000 so that the top leg of the strut can be rotated by hand.
3. Remove the damper rod nut.
Examination
shock absorber. Check that the stem moves smoothly under full compression and extension, and check that there are no oil leaks from the stem seals and welds. The stem must not be deformed or damaged. Spring isolator and bushing. Rubber parts should not have cracks or signs of destruction.
Spring. Check the spring for deformation, cracks or other damage.
Assembly
Position the upper suspension strut mount as shown in relation to the shock absorber.
When installing the spring, do not confuse the top and bottom (top end is flat).
The spring must be installed on the shock absorber as shown in the figure.
