Radial (1) and axial runout (2) are measured on the inner and outer sides of the wheel rim. The indicator must be firmly fixed to a fixed support. The runout is measured by slowly rotating the wheel, according to the indicator readings for one revolution of the wheel. If the runout value is outside the permissible limits, or wheel vibration cannot be eliminated by balancing, the wheel must be replaced. When measuring runout, do not take into account errors introduced by unevenness of the wheel surface: welds, paint smudges, scratches, etc.
