Headlights — adjustment (Nissan Murano Z50)

The headlights on the car must be adjusted correctly. If headlights are not adjusted correctly, they will blind oncoming drivers, which could cause an accident. In addition, incorrectly adjusted headlights impair the ability to see the road. Headlight adjustment should be checked every 12 months and when installing a new headlight or after work has been carried out on the front of the vehicle. It should be noted that the procedure described below is a temporary measure and the headlights should be adjusted at the earliest opportunity in a workshop that has the necessary equipment.

• The headlights have two adjustment screws, one of which (1) is located near the wing (it is used to adjust the vertical direction), and the other screw (2) is located behind the inner side of the headlight and is used to adjust it in the horizontal direction.

• The most convenient way to adjust headlights is with the help of sliding optical devices. If they are not there, then adjustments can be made using the screen.
• Place a fully fueled and equipped vehicle with a load of 735 N (75 kgf) on the driver's seat, on a flat horizontal surface 10 m from a smooth wall or any screen (plywood board measuring about 2x2 m, garage doors, etc.) so that the car's axis is perpendicular to it. Before marking the screen, make sure the air pressure in the tires is correct, and then rock the car from side to side to settle the suspension springs.

• Draw vertical lines on the screen: the axial 0 and lines A and B passing through points P, corresponding to the centers of the headlights. These lines must be symmetrical relative to the center line of the vehicle. At a height corresponding to the distance of the headlight centers from the floor, draw line 1 and 55 mm below it, line 2 of the centers of the light spots.
• Sequentially, first for the right headlight (the left one is covered with a piece of cardboard or a piece of dark matter), and then for the left (the right one is closed) adjust the low beam by positioning the zone of greatest illumination intensity so that the ohm is 55 mm below the horizontal line and 55 mm to the right of the vertical line. Adjustment is made by turning the adjusting screw located next to the wing and raising or lowering the headlight beam. Another adjustment screw is used to move the beam left or right.
• When the high beam is on, the area of greatest illumination intensity should be exactly in the center of the vertical line and slightly below the horizontal line.

Caution: It may be impossible to accurately adjust the headlight for both low beam and high beam illumination. If you want to reach a compromise, you should keep in mind that the low beam is used mainly and is more important for driving safety. Have your headlights adjusted at a workshop with the necessary equipment as soon as possible.
