Generator repair (Nissan Murano Z50)

Because detailed inspection and maintenance of the generator requires specialized skills and equipment, it is recommended that this work be carried out in a workshop. If the alternator is not charging the battery or is causing any concerns, the following should be checked first before taking more serious measures:

♦ drive belt tension;

♦ battery;

♦ all electrical wire connections are clean and secure;

♦ wear of generator bearings.

Generator brushes - replacement

• After unscrewing the mounting screws, remove the brush assembly from the rear cover of the generator.
• Check that the carbon brushes move smoothly in their guides without sticking.
• Measure the amount the brushes protrude from the brush assembly (clip).
• If the protruding length of the brush has worn down to the wear line, new brushes must be soldered in. On the generator, the protruding length (A) must be at least 6 mm.
• The brush assembly is installed in the reverse order of removal.
