Steering — General Information (Nissan Terrano 1)

The steering units include the steering wheel, column, gearbox, steering rods with tips (photo). The rotational motion of the steering wheel is transmitted to the rods and wheels through a ball nut that is engaged with the steering knuckle shaft. Some cars are equipped with a hydraulic booster (photo). The steering column breaks when the car collides. The ignition switch, steering shaft lock, headlight switches, turn signals and windshield washer, as well as the headlight dimmer are located on the column.
