1. Maintenance consists of periodically checking the tension of the pump belt, the fluid level in the tank and the condition of the tubes and hoses.
2. If the steering is not working properly, the vehicle should be taken to a service station to have the pressure in the system and the tension in the steering gear bearings checked.
3. If these checks reveal that the pump or steering gear is faulty, the power steering should be replaced (cannot be repaired).
4. If a leak is detected in the seals, the seals should be replaced, but the power steering must be checked at a car service center.
5. To adjust the pump belt, loosen the tensioner roller lock nut and turn the adjusting bolt (Chapter 1).
6. All parts of the power steering except the pump, hoses and hydraulic part are the same as the parts of the non-power steering.
