2. Remove the hood, air filter and battery.
3. Drain the liquid and oil from the engine and gearbox.
4. Disconnect radiator hoses, designate and disconnect all vacuum hoses and wires.
5. Disconnect and plug the fuel hoses. Remove the power steering pump and compressor, set aside without disconnecting from the lines.
6. Disconnect the throttle cable.
7. Disconnect the heater hoses, remove the air valve bracket from the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
8. Raise the front of the vehicle and disconnect the wires from the starter and alternator. On V6 engines, remove the starter.
9. On vehicles with automatic transmission, disconnect the hoses from the cooler at the bottom of the radiator and drain the fluid.
10. Remove a radiator and a casing.
11. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold.
12. Remove the clutch slave cylinder from the transmission, disconnect the handbrake cable and set aside.
13. On 4x4 vehicles: Disconnect the front driveshaft and axle shafts (Ch. 9), unscrew the 5 bolts and lower the front gearbox onto the cross member, disconnect the transmission from the engine (or loosen the torque converter bolts) (Ch. 7).
14. On 4x2 vehicles: Disconnect driveshaft (Ch. 9), perform all work on disconnecting the transmission, before unscrewing the bolts (Ch. 7).
15. Attach the hoist to the hooks on the cylinder head and hang the engine.
16. On 4x4 vehicles, remove the bolts that secure the gearbox rear support to the frame.
17. On 4x2 vehicles, remove the transmission bracket-to-body bolts, then remove the bracket-to-transmission bolts.
18. Turn away bolts of fastening of an arm of a forward support to the block of cylinders.
20. On 4x4 vehicles, lift the engine and move forward to disconnect it from the transmission. On 4x2 vehicles, tilt the engine and remove from the engine compartment (photo).
4.20 Removing the engine
21. To disconnect automatic transmission on 4x2 vehicles:
- Remove the bottom cover.
- Turn out bolts of the hydrotransformer. Remove transmission.
22. To disconnect manual transmission on 4x2 vehicles:
- Loosen the clutch housing bolts. Remove the gearbox without allowing its weight to be taken by the input shaft.
23. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. On 4x4 vehicles, lubricate the clutch housing with sealant.
