When performing a major overhaul, it is recommended to check, repair or replace the generator, starter and ignition distributor. Preliminary scope of work and costs for engine restoration (repair of the head, cylinder block, crank and valve mechanisms) is determined by its condition at the time of removal and disassembly. The determining factor is the condition of the cylinder block, which in some cases should be replaced (see below). When assembling a repaired engine, all gaskets and seals must be replaced.
