Note: The 4WD indicator light switch is mounted on the transfer case (see accompanying illustration). The sensor switch cannot be adjusted.
Checking the correct functioning
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Using an ohmmeter, check for conductivity of the switch sensor when the H and L 4WD transfer case modes are engaged. There should be no conductivity in other gearbox positions.
3. If necessary, replace the sensor switch.
Removal
1. Jack up the car and place it on supports.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the switch sensor from the transfer case.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
1. Before installation, lubricate the threads of the sensor switch with a proprietary sealant.
2. Check the quality of the contacts and the reliability of the electrical connector of the sensor switch.
