The speedometer gearbox is located next to the right axle shaft.
Removal
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Loosen the union nut and disconnect the speedometer cable.
3. Loosen the bolt.

4. Remove the gearbox and sealing ring.
5. If necessary, knock out the pin, remove the gear and thrust washer (the arrows indicate the pin and sealing ring).
6. Check all the details.
7. Replace the sealing ring.
8. If it is necessary to replace the thrust washer, keep in mind that the thickness of the new washer must be equal to the thickness of the one being replaced.
9. If defects in the reduction gear are detected, also check the condition of the drive gear in the gearbox.
10. To replace the drive pinion of the gearbox, it is necessary to disassemble the gearbox and remove the differential, so this work should be carried out at a car service center.
Installation
1. Assemble the gearbox and press in the new pin.
2. Replace the sealing ring, install the gearbox onto the gearbox and tighten the bolt.
3. Connect the speedometer cable and tighten the nut.
4. Lower the car.
