1. Apply the handbrake, set the lever to the "P" position, raise the front of the car.
2. Remove the spring clamp, disconnect the cable from the gear selection lever.
3. Loosen the adjuster locknuts or remove the spring clamp to release the cable from the transmission hanger, or simply unscrew the bolt from the hanger.
4. Release the cable from the hangers along its entire length.
5. Loosen the rear cable adjuster lock nut ("
X", Figure 7.10), remove the cable from the vehicle.
6. Disconnect the shift rod from the selector lever assembly base.
7. Remove the spring clamp, disconnect the gear shift rod from the lower end of the selector lever.

8. Before assembly, lubricate the entire length of the cable, the tips and pins, the adjuster threads and other contact points.
9. Connect the gear shift rod to the selector lever.
10. Connect the cable to the transmission hanger and the selector lever, check that the lever is in the "P" position, then thread the cable into the hangers.
11. Tighten the front lock nut of the cable adjuster ("
Y", Figure 7.10) as far as possible, pass the end of the cable through the gear shift rod, install the rear adjuster lock nut ("
X", Figure 7.10).
12. Adjust the mechanism as described above.
